YOGA AND THE FEMALE BODY – 
A PRACTICAL COURSE IN MANAGING YOUR BODY’S HEALTH AND VITALITY

ABOUT
A course for women (or those who identify as such) to learn natural Yoga, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Naturopathy-based tools and techniques to enhance well-being and honour their body during different stages of a woman’s life. This course is split into 3 modules of varying length covering:

  • Menstruation / hormonal balance
  • Breast health
  • Skin health and vitality

You can book for individual modules or save by doing all 3 modules together!!

MODULE 1 – Yoga for the women’s body (2 hours)
With Yuting Zhou

Date: Sat 12 October
Time: 3pm-5pm
Studio: I Am That Yoga  1-7 Emma Street Collingwood

This first module focusses on practical yoga poses which honours the cyclic nature of the women’s body. It is particularly useful for those seeking to establish a practice for menstruation and fertility support (including amenorrhea).

You will learn yoga asana (poses) to enhance comfort and support for the 4 phases of your monthly cycle – Menstrual, Ovulation, Follicular and Luteal. This will include female inspired slow flow, yin and restorative postures that are practical and helpful to increase our vital energy.

There will also be discussion on the correlation of food and lifestyle derived from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) elements and how they can support our monthly cycle.

No prior experience required and suitable for anyone interested in the above topics.

Module 2 – Yoga for Breast Health (2 hours)
With Yuting Zhou

Date: Sat 19 October
Time: 3pm-5pm
Studio: I Am That Yoga  1-7 Emma Street Collingwood

This module is suitable for women of all ages and fitness levels. You will learn yoga asana (poses), breast self-massage and pranayama (breathing exercises) to help you care for your breasts. Each pose includes instruction on how to practice with care, guidance in setting up and coming out, and variations to help with specific circumstances such as breast stiffness, discomfort and more.

The practice can also assist breast comfort, tone, lift and health to your lymph system. Whether you have experienced problems with your breasts or not, this module provides positive and practical methods of raising your awareness and boosting confidence in your body.

This module will be completed fully clothed. It is conducted in a fun and inclusive environment. Participants are advised to wear loose clothing and a soft bra (ideally wire-less bra) or sports bra.

No prior experience required and suitable for women of all ages, sizes, fitness levels.

Module 3 – Yoga for Vitality and Skin Health (4 hours)
with Yuting Zhou & Team

Date: Sat 9 November
Time: 3pm-7pm
Studio: I Am That Yoga  1-7 Emma Street Collingwood

The finale of the women series, and is a half day retreat that includes gift goodies and a catered tea and snack break!

The finale module consists of:

  • Yoga Asana (poses)
  • Face Yoga poses
  • Facial Guasha tutorial
  • Skin and vitality health talk by a licensed naturopath

We begin with a restoring Yin yoga to open and ground the body, followed by face yoga exercises to up your asana game. Face yoga is a series of exercises to help relax overworked muscles and awaken the sleeping muscles in the face. Consistent practice has known to help reduce and prevent wrinkles, improve skin vitality and help reduce feelings of tension and exhaustion.

Participants will then receive guidance on how to use a guasha tool to do self-facial guasha. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), when the guasha tool is applied to the face it can help firm up facial muscles, smoothen skin, drain stagnant lymph, improve dark circles and radiant complexion to the face.

Moving on to the body’s innate ability to heal and strengthen from within, a licensed naturopath will advise on nutrition and lifestyle choices that can help support your energy, vitality and also rejuvenate and clear your skin.

Led by Victoria (founder of I Am That, long-time yogi and skin-care fanatic), Yuting (yoga teacher and certified facial therapist) and Merridie, a licensed naturopath with many years of experience.
