Citizen Om Eastern Therapies

Citizen OM is very passionate about Eastern therapies, as their healing techniques help restore our vital energies. Eastern modalities are focussed on the body, mind and spirit as a whole, and not just solely on the physical symptom. Our Eastern facial modalities originate from China and India based on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Ayurveda principles.

Facial Gua Sha

Gua Sha is an ancient healing technique and involves strokes of stone, gem or horn made boards to clear stagnation and promote lymphatic drainage. Facial Gua sha is an effective modality that directly affects the connective tissue and muscles around the face. It helps iron out the fascia that is bound with tension and accumulated wastes from daily stresses.  Facial Gua Sha promotes cell renewal, renew facial contour, reduces inflammation, puffiness, relieves tension and increases the flow of prana.  Through opening the pathways that feed the skin, we are able to ignite the skin’s natural healing power.

Facial Cupping

Face cupping is a safe, non-invasive treatment and painless treatment.
The process is carried out with specific facial cups to treat face, neck and upper chest, by lifting facial tissues to stimulate circulation of the blood and proper functioning of the lymph nodes. The tissues receive fresh supplies of oxygen, and excess fluid and waste are removed. The massage movements help relax tense facial muscles resulting in a smooth, softer and youthful appearance.

Warm Herbal Poultice

Warm Herbal Poultice originated from Thailand and is a mindful and meditative therapy. It offers wonderful benefits of aromatherapy, heat therapy and herbal therapy all in one.

Dried organic herbs are wrapped in muslin, steamed and applied directly to your face and neck.  This modality increases circulation, oxygenates tissues, hydrates, lifts and contour brows and cheeks, reduces dark circles, eases TMJ, increase lymphatic flow thus creating a smooth complexion.

Kansa Wand Facial Massage
(KV Mukha Abhyanga)

Also known as the Kansa Wand Face Massage, this modality is perfect for those with sensitive skin. It originates from Ayurveda and is a relaxing experience that purifies, nourishes, and rejuvenates skin for a luminous glow. Massage is carried out with special concentration to Marma points. This modality can also help balance the doshas and chakras, relieves eye strain, tones facial skin and promote sound sleep.

Indian Head Massage – (Shiro Abhyanga)

Indian Head Massage, or Shiro Abhyanga is an ancient art that has been practised for over a thousand years mainly by women in India, originally developed to keep their hair strong and lustrous.

It is a deeply relaxing massage that relaxes the layer of muscle covering the head, improving blood flow, and alleviating stress. It nourishes and relaxes the scalp, thus relieving eyestrains, headaches, improving concentration, boosting the immune system and generally creating a feeling of wellbeing.

Marma points and herbal oils will be used in this treatment.

Ice Rollers Face Massage

Ice globes are cooling wands used in facials to soothe redness and decrease inflammation and the appearance of large pores. Ice globes stimulate and exercise facial nerves and muscles, which tighten your skin and aid in the elimination of fine lines. Ice globes support post acne treatment and have been found to be beneficial for puffy eyes, and provide relief to sinus or migraine headaches.

Ice balls can be used independently or in combination with Oriental Jade Rollers as part of TCM to assist with unblocking stagnant energy and balancing Qi.
